My Morning Makeover with Jennifer Perrin @ Beauty Spot Salon and Day Spa

Happy Tuesday Everybody! Hope you are all having a great day so far…. I know things have been super quiet over here on the blog front, and I do apologise if you popped in and there was nothing new to feast your eyes on. I have been going through a bit of a personal emotional battle over here in Bahrain since moving here and just have not been up to writing anything. But that is another story/post for another time completely….

Today I want to share with you my amazing experience having my makeup done by the wonderfully talented Jennifer Perrin from Beauty Spot Salon & Day Spa in Hamala.

A little while ago the lovely Nikki from Beauty Spot contacted me and asked if I would like to be Glammed Up by the gorgeous Jennifer,  and I immediately said YES! I was so excited I could hardly contain myself… Jennifer whom I have met before through a mutual friend is just the most LOVELY person you will ever meet and she is crazy talented with a makeup brush let me tell you… Plus she can sing too! That’s right, Jennifer is also a professionally trained singer with the voice of an angel! Just Google Jennifer Crestol and you will see what I mean. Anywaaaayyyy, back to the makeover… hiehiehie

I arrived at the salon bright eyed and bushy tailed early on the Monday morning and was greeted with the warmest, yummiest cup of coffee while I waited for Jennifer to set up. Once she was ready I climbed into her swiveling chair ready for whatever her artistic creativity wanted to let loose on my face that day *giggles* I was so excited. After talking for a couple of minutes we decided on a Soft Purple Smokey Eye in celebration of Springtime. She started by cleansing my face using Bioderma Sensibio H2O and then moved on to moisturizing with Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentrate as my skin had a few dry patches. Due to the excitement factor I did not sleep very well the pervious night, so I had some *bags* under my eyes which she lovingly doctored with the NEW Kahina Eye Serum from The Jamila which you can purchase from their website here…. (this really is lovely stuff and it is Organic as well).

Kahina Eye SerumAfter that she used KETT Creme Fixx foundation explaining that it is a wax-based, waterproof cream formula which will not feel or look heavy AKA “cakey”, which in my book ticks all the boxes when it comes to MY perfect foundation. Then she finished up concealing my under eye circles with the KETT corrector and some concealer and prepping my eyes with MAC Paint Pot in Painterly before starting with the eye shadow. As she went along chatting whilst applying my eye makeup I learned that for my eye shape it is good to first create a shadow with a mid-tone shade like MAC’s Wedge to bring my eyes forward, if that makes any sense…. She then created the most gorgeous purple smokey eye with an array of MAC and Shu Uemura eye shadows and finished off the look with a pair of Ardell falsies and some eyeliner. Everything was starting to come together, except with my new lighter hair my darker micro-pigmented eyebrows were looking a bit “harsh” to say the least. But never fear when Jennifer’s near! She quickly pulled out her magic wand called Makeup Forever Brow Gel Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector and “poof”! In seconds I had the most beautiful, lighter, soft looking eyebrows EVER. I was so impressed with this product that I went to Sephora a couple days later to pick up my very own tube, which has quickly become one of my Holy Grail eyebrow products.

Finally I was done… No wait, something is missing…. Ah yes, the cheeks and lips! Jennifer wanted to keep the focus on the smokey eyes as this was a daytime look, so she flushed up my cheeks with some Benefit Rockateur Blush then she added some “shine” to my complexion with the gorgeous Kevyn Aucoin highlighter in Candlelight *swoon* Sooooo pretty! We then decided on a soft lip using Kevyn Aucoin Minimal Lip Liner, Marc Jacobs Lipstick in Under Study topped off with Armani Lip Gloss in #17.

The end result was so gorgeous that Nikki offered to do an impromptu photo shoot at the little coffee shop down the road which was the perfect ending to a lovely morning!

Nomination – Liebster Award

Liebster Award

I was nominated for this award by the lovely Rayne from Make It Rayne.  The Liebster Award is aimed at giving some exposure to small blogs with less than 200 followers.

The Rules are as follows:

Link back to the blogger that nominated you.

Answer the 11 questions given to you by the blogger who nominated you.

Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers.

Go to the blogs nominated and notify them of your nomination.

Give your nominees 11 questions to answer.

1. If you could choose one super power, what would it be?

Hmmmm, if I could choose any super power it would definitely have to be Teleportation. Can you imagine how amazingly awesome it would be to just close your eyes, think of any place in the world you would like to be and POOF, there you are?!!!

2. What is your favourite quote?

My favourite quote would have to be something that my hubby always tells me, and it is so true… “Life is not about ifs and buts, it is about do’s and dont’s”

3. If you had the option to go back in time and change anything, would you? And what would you change?

Wow, this is a tricky one. I mean we all have done something in the past that we regretted doing or saying, but I would have to say that I would not want to change ANYTHING. All the decisions I have made and paths I have taken, whether good or bad have led me to become the person I am today. I am happy, healthy, blessed with an amazingly loving husband and living the dream.  What more could anyone really want?

4. What is your best “feel good” song?

Hands down “Happy” by Pharrell Williams! There is just something about this tune that instantly lifts my mood and makes me want to shake my booty… Lol

5. If you had to have eyeshadow tattooed onto your eyelids, what colour would you choose? And NUDE is not an option?

WHAT? Eyeshadow tattooed on my eyes? Like forever?!!!! Uhm, thanks, but NO THANKS! I love changing my look often and would hate having just one type of colour combination on my eyes for all eternity! I had permanent eyebrows done last year because I was tired of struggling to make my sparse and almost non existent eyebrows look like something, and to be honest I kind of regret it sometimes. So I would say that is about as far as I would go with ANY permanent makeup.

6. If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who would they be?

Oooooh, I like this question. I would definitely want to have dinner with Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and my Grandmother which I never had the privilege to know as I was so young when she passed. All these classy ladies around one table can only be FUN!

7. Favourite animal?

I absolutely adore the Bengal Tiger. Such a beautiful, majestic animal with such grace but also a fierceness about them. Kind of like us woman, beautiful, strong and graceful.

8. Whose life on TV/a movie would you take if you could?

*Giggles* Now this is something that really made me think…. If I could choose to be anyone it would have to be Baby from Dirty Dancing! Being able to learn to dance like THAT from the handsome Patrick Swayze and play his love interest? Come on *drool*

9. Favourite restaurant?

I absolutely ♥ Ginelli’s in Middelburg, MP in South Africa. Their food is to die for…

10. Which three items would you take to a desert island?

SPF, Water and Toothpaste… you can always brush your teeth with your finger, right?

11.  If your house was burning down and all humans and animals were safe, what item would you grab?

What, only one item? Sjoe, that is a tricky one…. Hmmmm, I would probably grab my Handbag… It has my whole life inside of it, well, kind of ;-)

Thank you so much Rayne, for nominating me. This has been so much fun!

I TAG the following Bloggers, which may or may not have less than 200 followers:

3. Why did you start blogging?

4. What is your favourite skin care product?

5. Do you buy beauty products online from time to time? If so, which online stores to you buy from?

6. What valuable lesson/s have you learned during your blogging journey?

7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would choose to live and why?

9. What don’t you like about blogging?

10. What is your ALL time favourite book and Why do you love it so?

♥ LUSH Valentines 2015 Collection plus a MINI Haul ♥

Ok so Valentines Day is just around the corner and to make it even sweeter LUSH South Africa released their Valentines Collection for 2015 online just last week and believe you me, it is flying off the cyber space shelves. They still have stock left, so if you would like to stock up on your favourites there is still time to do so.

I was suffering from serious FOMO over here in Bahrain, and because we do not have a LUSH store on the island I started making serious plans on how I was going to get some over here, from lets face it, basically ANYWHERE… Luckily for little old me I came across an Instagram Shop called BH_LUSH and my prayers were answered! I immediately contacted them and placed my order which I would receive after 2 weeks, and it would be delivered straight to my door. Phew… crisis averted! I was ECSTATIC… Unicorn Horn would finally be mine *evil laugh* (I will however confess that they are not cheap, like most things here in the Middle East, especially when you compare it to SA, but all else considered, it was so worth it)

I am not a very big Valentines Day fan (I believe you should show the people you LOVE that you care about them ALL year round♥), but I do love all the prettiness that surrounds this day. Like all the beautiful stationary, nail art, make-up ideas, heart shaped chocolates, stuffed teddy bears and of course the LUSH Limited Edition that gets released every year… This year will be my FIRST time trying out the coveted Valentines Collection from LUSH and I have to tell you, I am super excited!

I picked up 4 goodies as I had to be very strict with myself not to end up with EVERYTHING! Yikes..

Lush Valentines 2015

So today I have my mini haul all the way from the UK *wow* with my first impressions that I would like to share with you guys,

♥ Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar | Retails for BD6 / 100g | R45.00 in SA ♥

I remember seeing a picture of this on Pink Peonies Blog’s Twitter Page and wishing that I could get my little paws on it. I have to admit, I am quite new to LUSH, so for me this was like confetti to my eyes and I immediately fell in love. The shape and colours remind me of the play dough we used to model with when we were kids and this makes me even more excited about this little guy. The stars on my UNI-HORN got a little lost in transportation, but I can live with that. It has the most addictive Lavender smell and you can also pick up whiffs of Neroli and Ylang Ylang Oil. Lavender oil is really good to help you relax and unwind after a long day, and although I never really used to like it, I find myself strangely attracted to the scent these days. Hopefully after a nice bath with this beauty I will drift off into a restful sleep as I have been suffering from bad insomnia these past couple of weeks.

Unicorn Horn

♥ Floating Flower Bath Bomb | Retails for BD 5 / 100g | R45.50 in SA ♥

Floating flower reminds me of the water lilies that you usually see in Disney movies (think Little Mermaid here) and this makes me giddy with excitement, because I am such a sucker for Disney movies! Just ask my hubby, he will gladly confirm… The first thing I noticed when I smelled this gorgeous flower (see what I did there), was that it smelled of Jasmine, which has strangely enough become one of my favourite scents. It is not very overpowering, but soft and sensual. Plus seeing as the Jasmine flower is known for opening up to release it’s scent at night,  it’s Perfect for a Pre-Valentines date soak ♥

Floating Flower

♥ Heart Throb Bubbleroon | Retails for BD 6 / 100g | R54.50 in SA ♥

This gold-pixie-dusted red heart macaron lookalike bubble bar is enough to get my heart racing I tell you. The seductive, sweet but slightly spicy scent of Geranium is very distinct is this little guy with a touch of Vanilla… YUM! Split it in half and you have enough “heart” for two baths, or share it with a loved one, it is the month of LOVE after all. This bubble bar is sure to leave you begging for more.

Heart Throb

♥ Prince Charming Shower Gel | Retails for BD12 / 250g (Medium Size) | R145.00 /250g  in SA ♥

This will also be my first time using any of the LUSH shower gels and I have to say, I have high hopes for Prince Charming! This hot pink shower gel (although it looks a bit more red in some of the photos, sorry guys) reminds me of a Grapefruit… I don’t know why, but that is what I smell when I take a whiff of this bad boy.  Armed with Marshmallow Root (I know right *yummy*), Fair Trade Vanilla Pod and Fresh Organic Pomegranate juice you are definitely in for a treat. And who knows, you might just find your very own Prince Charming after indulging in this one *wink-wink*

Prince Charming

The Valentines 2015 Collection is currently still available online at LUSH SA as well as in-stores (Cavendish, V&A Waterfront, Canal Walk and Gateway) or if you are in Bahrain contact Bahrain Lush either on Instagram here or on WhatsApp +973 3310 0693

I really this years collection and only wish that I could have picked up ALL the goodies, but hey, there is always next year, right?

What did you guys get?

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentines Day ♥

{Review} The WINNING Micro-Pedi Electronic Foot File

Micro Pedi

Hello beauties…. Can you believe it is February already? Well I can’t… It is like where the heck is the time going? You feel me? *giggles*  I know I have been very quit and SUPER bad at blogging on a regular basis, but things have been a bit hectic here (won’t bore you with all the boring deets… please forgive me?!)  I am however seriously going to try and focus more of my energy on my blog! *makes mental note*

Today I want to talk a bit about my NEW obsession, The Emjoi Micro-Pedi! I have been planning on writing this review for about more than a week now, and after having a sick hubby at home (don’t get me wrong, I loved every moment of having Le Husband home for a week as I just came back from a month long holiday in SA without him *sad face* & we only see each other on weekends here), I am finally getting around to doing it.  So here goes….

Micro Pedi

To be honest I have never heard of The Micro-Pedi before I was lucky enough to win one last year on their Facebook page and boy was my interest piqued after receiving this guy! *Just a note: My first gadget wasn’t working so I contacted the lovely people at Micro-Pedi South Africa and the very sweet Russel sent me a brand spanking NEW one to try out, complete with batteries and a special hand written note! Thank you so much for the special touch you guys*

Eish I am getting side tracked here…

The Micro-Pedi is a Multi Award Winning hand held, battery operated pedicure device that promises beautiful feet in just seconds. The unique micro-mineral roller spins 360 degrees, at 30 times per second to gently remove the hard and rough skin. It is also kitted out with a safety mechanism that kicks in when you press the roller to hard on your skin, which then makes the unit stop spinning. So no chances of hurting yourself or nicking the skin, which I do on a regular basis with normal foot files. Lol…

So, does it work you ask?  ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY!!!! I have been using this baby for the past couple of months or so and let me tell you, my heels have never looked so good. To be honest, I was really skeptical at first… I mean how was this little thingy going to get rid of my hideously cracked heels and the little “bumps” of hard skin on the balls of my feet? Surprise Surprise… After just one use they were almost gone! And the amount of skin that came off my feet was to say the least, DISGUSTINGLY amaze-ballz! I kinda wish I had taken before and after photies to be able to show you, but alas, I did not. There is however a bunch of cringe worthy, ‘real life’ before and afters available on the net with just the press of a button as well as rave reviews from all over the world!

Top Tip: I use it before a bath as it has to be used on dry skin and then afterwards I slather on some cream and put some socks on before I go to bed. In the morning when I wake up I have gorgeously soft footsies. Yay!

Micro Pedi 1

I am quite wonderfully impressed with this little guy and would happily repurchase a new gizmo should mine break.

The Micro-Pedi comes with a cleansing brush and a protective clear cap to keep your roller safe and dust free. It retails for R399,00 on the Micro-Pedi South Africa online shop with free delivery in SA. You can also buy replacement rollers which retails for R199,00 for a pack of 2 (and just between you and me, they last quite long depending on how often you use your file and the condition of your feet)

I can for the life of me not find their Facebook Page anymore, which is very strange…. but you can follow Micro-Pedi South Africa on their Instagram page here

Have any of you tried this handy little tool and what did you think?
